Italian developer Stormind Games opened its doors five years ago, and has since birthed the Remothered series. The two games it made so far followed that typical third person survivor horror model, often being compared to Resident Evil. While the series isn’t at that AAA level yet, it seems like the developer might be moving up a tier for its next project. The studio has hired a slew of talent, including a writer previously involved with The Witcher series.
The details of the next project remain unannounced, but the developer has revealed some new additions to the team. Stormind Games has brought in Anne Toole, a writer known for her work on The Witcher series, Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone and more. Toole also served as lead writer on last year’s Beyond Blue.
Ron Fish has also been incorporated into the team, and is a video game composer whose works are featured in the original God of War and the Batman Arkham series among others. Finally, Concept Artist Borislav Mitkov is on board, who previously worked on Assassin’s Creed Origins. Mitkov will serve as character concept artist at Stormind Games.
Moving on up
While all of this sounds mighty exciting, Stormind Games has some work to do. Its latest release, Remothered: Broken Porcelain, launched in an all-but-broken state late last year. In fact we reviewed it, and yes that’s a 2, not a 7 out of 10. Underneath the myriad of bugs was a passable B-movie horror experience, but that’s hardly why Stormind Games would bring in a writer like Toole.
We’ll give Stormind the benefit of the doubt for now though, especially before we know more about its next project. The new developers who’ve worked on such high caliber games show that the team is moving on up, although it could probably do with a more robust QA process, too. For now, all we know is Stormind Games’ next project is a new IP. Perhaps it can provide a chance for a clean slate after Remothered: Broken Porcelain.
