Given the buzz created by the trailer game, a sequel to Dead Island was more inevitable than probable. That tends to happen in this (and any) industry that sees a product ship over a million units in a week in North America.
So, we can only presume that when developer Techland trademarks the name ‘Dead World’ it points to another game in the Dead Island canon. Our natural instinct is to say that it’s a sequel and may well as be called Dead Island 2. Then again, it may not be set on an island.
There’s also the x-factor inclusion of the word ‘world’, which to many people invokes thoughts of MMOs and many thousands of players. Frankly, if that turns out to be the case I’ll be more than a little worried. I enjoyed Dead Island when I reviewed it, but there are enough bugs in there to put me off any Techland MMO forever.
