World of Warcraft subs in rapid decline

During tonight’s Activision Blizzard conference call, Blizzard revealed their latest subscriber numbers for World of Warcraft.
According to the latest figures, subscriber numbers continue to decline and they currently sit at 10.3 million.
The decline in subscriptions appears to be gathering pace. Back in May the subscriber base was 11.4 million and it then then dropped to 11.1 million in August. 
These latest numbers show that the decline is now more rapid, and with the new Mists of Pandaria expansion some way off and competative products such Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic due for release in the coming months, Blizzard could see the drop in numbers increase further.
World of Warcraft has been live for seven years now which is a great innings for an MMO and the subscriber base is still huge, but fans of the genre are obviously looking for something new and fresh. Perhaps Blizzard’s Titan project will keep Blizzard on the MMO map in the coming years, but the release of Titan is some way off. Blizzard be hoping that the new WoW expansion will have players flocking back to Azeroth.
