Thanks for the heads up, Geoff.

In a seemingly surprise tweet today, popular game media host Geoff Keighley confirmed the Steam Games Festival: Autumn Edition. While Valve hasn’t mentioned anything official yet, it’s probably safe to say it’s fact. Keighley has hosted many of the top events in the industry as in definitely in-the-know. The Autumn Edition is currently planned to run from October 7-13 and will feature exclusive game demos and previews.

The Steam Game Festival premiered back in December of 2019 alongside The Game Awards and offered demos for several upcoming games. Valve took note of the initial popularity and has brought the event back several times this year to make up for the lack of physical industry events. The Summer Edition was particularly crazy, as it offered over 900 game demos over the course of 48 hours. It left many players disappointed that they had to pick and choose what to play during the limited window.

Taking time to enjoy the view

This time, Valve is stretching things out a big longer with a full week of time to enjoy the Steam Game Festival: Autumn Edition. The matter of what we can expect to play is still a different story though, as Keighley’s tweet was only a headline. Given the size of the Summer Edition however, we can surely expect plenty of options. Perhaps even the return of a few games from the prior event, albeit in a more polished state.

In addition to the game demos, there will also be exclusive developer interviews about games featured in the event. Steam also offers up special sales, from individual games to bundles that are almost too good to pass up on. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the second week of October, as there’s sure to be no shortage of things to try and buy on Steam.
