Cyberpunk 2077 Lifepaths character progression trailer

Cyberpunk 2077 trailer breaks down its three lifepaths

Don't forget where you came from.

Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be out until November (hopefully). Three months should be plenty of time to figure out how you want to begin your new, digital life in Night City. In the game, you have three option’s for your protagonist’s origin. And each choice makes a big difference in how you experience the majority of the story. During part two of Night City Wire, developer CD Projekt Red released a short trailer showing off what consequences await each lifepath at the start of Cyberpunk 2077.

The three lifepaths presented at the start of the game are wildly varied. Starting off as a Street Kid offers you, well, street smarts, hopefully upping your chances to survive encounters with alley scum. Naturally, being a street kid means the occasional brush with the law and a busted lip here and there. Outside the city, however, you can start as a Nomad for that Mad Max-inspired life covered in diesel and dust. Something bad happens, of course, leaving you to escape to the big city. Possibly smelling of corn. Finally, the Corpo lifepath readies you for a life of corporate espionage, with a knack for tech.

Each choice defines the lifepath you take in Cyberpunk 2077. Being a Street Kid can mean finding alliances within the lower regions of the city. A Corpo will be able to talk their way out of rough situations, and put their hacking skills to use. The Nomad will probably have the hardest time in the city, but outside its walls is where their strengths can be put to the test.

All that and a bag of shells

Today’s Night City Wire wasn’t all about lifepaths. CD Projekt also showed off some tools of the trade in a weaponry trailer. The featurette covered Cyberware, smart weapons, throwables and more. We also got personal with a few ne’er-do-wells who begged for a closer look of the Mantis Blades — melee weapons that jut from arms.

There will be another Night City Wire in the coming weeks, according to CD Projekt Red. Cyberpunk 2077 is still locked into a launch date of November 19.
