Crysis Remastered gets leaked, and is coming to PC “soon” [updated]

We do in fact have a Crysis on our hands.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

[Update: April 16 @ 2:34 PM EST] It’s official! The Crysis Twitter account made the announcement moments ago that Crysis Remastered is on its way. The official website has also been updated. Also, the teaser trailer is below the original article.

On Monday, the Crysis Twitter account briefly woke up to tease about something new on the horizon. Well, an internet sleuth got the drop on the party, unearthing some splash art and information on Crysis Remastered hidden in the game’s official website. And good news! You’ll be able to run it on PC.

The artwork was discovered by Twitter user @RobotBrush. Along with the artwork were two pages with information on the game. While no solid release date was confirmed, we now know that the game is heading to consoles as well as PC “soon.” RobotBrush also found the Cookie Policy for the Crysis Remastered page, if that floats your boat.

“Crytek’s ground-breaking, critically acclaimed first person shooter is back! Crysis Remastered is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch — the game’s debut on a Nintendo platform,” read the page.

The page isn’t officially live yet, but we got a good taste of what it’ll look like when it is.

They can all run Crysis

Crysis is more than 10 years old at this point, which I suppose makes it a retro game. Or something. Back in 2007, the game was not-quite-jokingly referred to as the primary benchmark for gaming PCs after usurping the developer’s previous game, Far Cry. The game, which was running Crytek’s CryEngine 2, was gorgeous and caused many rigs to sweat even on medium graphics settings.

While it’s likely our modern, beefier machines will finally be able to handle Crysis‘ majesty, the game should put some rigs through the ringer. More text found within the metadata says that the game will include “high-quality textures” as well as “API-agnostic ray tracing.”

There’s not much else the website can divulge on Crysis Remastered (there’s still that cookie page). No doubt publisher Electronic Arts will offer an official announcement at any time now.
