Corsair and Elgato reveal gear for content creators at CES 2020

Hardware manufacturers Corsair and Elgato have announced a new line of hardware with content creators in mind. Of course, Elgato has been a leader in gear for content creators for years. But now it’s brought in its parent company Corsair for some co-op action. The duo have revealed a trifecta of new equipment, including a LED light, capture device, and keyboard to help tie everything together. The hardware is getting shown off for the first time during CES 2020 this week.

Elgato’s offerings are similar to products it’s developed in recent memory. However, its latest offering in video capture, the Elgato 4K60 S+, promises to go beyond previous efforts. Obviously, based on the name alone, the newest in Elgato’s range of capture devices can record up to 4K video at 60 FPS. Most capture cards are only capable of the 1080p at 60 FPS standard. This is because going beyond would only benefit those who can view footage at that level of quality. Most live streamers can’t even display their content higher than 1080p. It goes without saying that YouTubers would benefit the most from the device.

But for those interested, the 4K60 S+ comes with some bells for your goose to pluck. It utilizes USB 3.0 to record video of HDR10 4K, 60 FPS gameplay. The 4K60 S+ comes with a memory card slot to record directly to an SD card, circumventing the need to record to your PC hard drive first. It also uses HEVC encoding so file sizes don’t eat up your precious drive space. Additionally, it allows you to save gameplay and microphone audio separately, if  you like uploading your footage to YouTube — sans all your grunts and screams.

Lights, keyboard, action

Elgato is also showing off a new, smaller LED light panel. The Elgato Key Light Air is a compact version of its Key Light panel, but it’s roughly comparable. Like its larger cousin, the Key Light Air comes on a swivel mount attached to a telescopic pole for adjustment. You can control the intensity of the light via a smartphone app or the Elgato Stream Deck.

Finally, we have Corsair’s offering to wrap things up. The K95 RGB Platinum XT keyboard is designed to work with Elgato products. Using Elgato’s software, you can control your stream with the press of a key. The board comes with a separate set of blue S-keys on the left side, which can be customized for any function you use for the Stream Deck. Corsair’s new keyboard isn’t all that bad, even if you don’t care for the S-keys. You can check it out in the trailer below.
