Forza Horizon 4 The Eliminator Announce Trailer

Forza Horizon 4 enters the battle royale fray with The Eliminator

Battle royale in racing? Yep.

Hey, if Fortnite and Call of Duty can have a battle royale, then… why can’t Forza? At least, that’s what Playground Games thinks. Tomorrow, the developer will introduce a new mode to Forza Horizon 4 called The Eliminator. With it, players can test their driving skills as they compete in races and try to be the last car standing.

So, how does The Eliminator work?

The mode begins with 72 players entering a race at the same time. At the start, they’ll all receive the same vehicle — a 1965 Mini Cooper. But as they compete, they’ll be eligible to earn upgrades. These will either be with wins in head-to-head competitions or by picking up Car Drops that are available throughout the map, highlighted by smoke.

The way eliminations work is those that lose the races during the course of the event are automatically out. Those that remain, however, face a formidable challenge with a closing circle. As it contracts, less and less of the racing area becomes available. It soon gets down to there simply being a small circle left, and the remaining racers have to compete in one last event to see who’s the best — or rather, the Eliminator.

The mode is set to debut in Forza Horizon 4 December 12 and will be free to all players. This includes those on Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass, as well as Windows PC. And those that take part will be able to compete in a special mini campaign. With it, they have the chance to earn additional cars. These include the 2008 Renault Megane R26.R, the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Pre-Order Edition, and 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator, and there are a number of special Eliminator-themed outfits for your driver too.

There’s a good glimpse of what kind of racing action is in store in the trailer below. Prep those battle royale racing skills and we’ll see you in The Eliminator! If you don’t have Forza Horizon 4 yet, you can snag it here, on sale for $35.99 USD.
