Act quickly and you can pick up Pathologic 2: Marble Nest for free. The DLC launches October 29 and will be free for anyone who owns the base game when it comes out. That gives you a few hours to still pick up Pathologic 2 on Steam or while it’s on sale at Humble Bundle to get the DLC for free.
You can’t save everyone
Pathologic 2 is an open-world horror game about making hard choices in lose-lose situations. A deadly plague is ravaging a secluded rural town, and with the death of the town’s doctor, it falls to you to try and save the townsfolk. And yourself. Exactly how you do that is up to you, but you can’t do it alone. Loot, murder, mug, steal, barter, beg — just do what you have to do get things done.
But not all threats come from external sources. You also need to manage your bodily functions to ensure you don’t die. Fend off hunger, thirst, and exhaustion, while keeping your immune system strong enough to battle the plague. Every minute counts because you only have 12 days.
A second chance
Pathologic 2: Marble Nest runs parallel to the original story, giving you a different perspective of events. You play as Dr. Daniil Dankovsky, a doctor trying to save the same secluded town as the Haruspex, the protagonist from the base game. You have just one day to piece together what’s happening and solve Death’s riddle.
The DLC offers a two-to-three-hour self-contained story that can be played without completing the original game. Ice-Pick Lodge, developer of Pathologic 2: Marble Nest, has also said the DLC is not as tough as the base game, which needed to add difficulty sliders to make it more forgiving on how players spent their time.
Pathologic 2: Marble Nest might look familiar to some fans of the series. The reason for this is because it is the pre-release demo that Ice-Pick Lodge released for the game back in 2017. They’ve given it some love and polish and turned it into the DLC for free. A mighty kind gesture in stark contrast to how you’re treated in their games.
Pick up Pathologic 2: Marble Nest on Steam for free if you have the base game by the time the DLC launches.
