Mashinky With The Golden Gate Bridge In The Background

Transport strategy simulator Mashinky to receive vehicles update

From railroads to roadways
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

If you’re a fan of games like Railroad Tycoon or Transport Tycoon, then you owe it to yourself to give Mashinky a look. This transport strategy game comes from Jan Zeleny, a one-man team. Over time, Mashinky‘s development has slowly featured new updates and patches during its Early Access period. The next update on Oct. 6 will bring transport vehicles to the game, giving players a variety of vehicles to add to their up-and-coming transport company.

The goal of the game is to utilize your resources to build up a transport empire. This is where the inspiration from Railroad Tycoon comes into play. The game forces you to be aware of the environment. While doing so, you’ll take resources and economy into consideration. Starting off as a small transport business, you’ll slowly build up your routes and research new vehicles along the way. You’ll gain money by transporting passengers and cargo. The goal is to eventually create a booming empire within the transport industry.

Soon, with Mashinky‘s October update, players can expand their business beyond the railroads. The update will bring fuel trucks, buses, and cargo trucks for players to purchase for their transport business. In addition, the update will bring a customizable “stamp” feature, allowing players to create unique stamps to place on the game map. The goal here is to give players some freedom in customizing different depots and railways stations. According to the Steam store page, the developer hopes for players to share their stamps with other members of the community.

The game currently has five different eras. Each era features a different selection of vehicles and technology specific to that time period. While Mashinky is still receiving updates, developer Jan Zeleny seeks to create seven total eras for the game. Mashinky begins with the steam era and moves into the future. The different eras feature a variety of different trains and vehicles. For those who enjoy business management games with some nicely detailed environments, Jan Zeleny’s Mashinky is a sleeper transport strategy game that has remained under the radar.
