Gamings most popular mainstream fighter for perverts, Dead or Alive 6, is bringing in its first two DLC fighters. Dead or Alive 6 is drafting two guest characters from SNK’s The King of Fighters series, Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond.
The Dead or Alive series is no stranger to guest characters. Dead or Alive 5 brought in several characters from Sega’s Virtua Fighter series and series mainstay Ryu Hayabusa stars in the Ninja Gaiden series of games. Mai Shiranui had already appeared in Dead or Alive 5 Last Round back in 2016, so these additions to 6 are a little underwhelming as the first wave of DLC characters. That isn’t to say that they won’t fit right in.
The Alluring Ninja and The Ice Doll
Mai Shiranui is a ninja who fights with fans and flames while rocking a famously skimpy outfit which she “mesmerizes” opponents with. Well, I guess they call her “The Alluring Ninja” for a reason. Her debut for Dead or Alive 6 shows off her moves against the series staple Kasumi.
Kula Diamond is a little more reserved in her style. Her title as “The Ice Doll” is well earned as her quick attacks and ability to use ice can devastate her foes. Similar to Mortal Kombat’s own ice princess, Sub Zero, Kula will be able to stop enemies in their tracks by flash freezing the water in the air around them. This could be the critical edge needed to win out those close matches and set up big combos. Kula’s character description also makes sure to point out her “odd addiction to candy and the fact that she appears much younger than her actual age.” If that doesn’t tell you exactly what kind of game you’re in for with Dead or Alive, I don’t know what will.
I’d buy that for a dollar
These two fighters will be available as part of Dead or Alive 6′s ludicrous $93 season 1 pass. They are also available for individual sale at $7.99 each. If you really need to get your dress up game on, they are also available with their respective costume packs for $15.99 each. You can also go all in on both for modest savings at $29.99. For most people, option B is probably your best bet. If you decide later that you just need to see these two in a wedding dress or whatever, costume packs can be purchased for $2.99 each. Purchasing these characters will also add their chapters in Dead or Alive 6′s story mode and DOA Quest mode.
A word of warning, be careful to only purchase these character once. Due to the terrible way DLC is handled for DoA6, it is actually possible to buy these characters five times. The DLC list on steam is longer than a menu at the Cheesecake Factory and already totals over $670, so be careful not to double up. The game itself still retails for $59.99 with a free to play Core Fighter’s version available as well.
Personally, I’m a fan of the recent trend in fighting games to bring in guest characters from rival series. Tekken 7, in particular, has really shined in that respect with how they implemented Street Fighter’s Akuma. Who would you like to see make it to Fame Douglas’ famed fighting festival? SNK and Sega have already joined in. Conversely, which Dead or Alive character would you like to see guest star in a different fighting game? Let us know in the comments below.
