I can’t believe 2018 is already over. The year went by like a blur, and I feel like I barely had time to touch my backlogged Steam library. I mean, I still haven’t even touched the Rise and Fall expansion for Civilization VI!
2019 doesn’t look like it’ll offer any respite, either. The year is packed with some huge releases that will demand my attention. Here are a few of the games coming up in 2019 that I’m most looking forward to.
Doom Eternal
The DOOM reboot was my favorite game of 2016, and I expect DOOM Eternal to be even better. The adrenaline-pumping, demon-slaying action made DOOM one of the best single-player first-person shooters since Halo’s golden age. Also, Mick Gordon is back on soundtrack duty for Eternal, and I can’t wait to hear what face melting jams he cooks up.
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is probably going to be featured on every “Most Anticipated Games Of 2019” list, and mine is no different. I wasn’t as enthralled by The Witcher 3 as most people were, so I was a little skeptical of Cyberpunk 2077 at first. However, the 48-minute gameplay trailer we saw back in August completely changed my tune. I fully expect to dump countless hours into this one – assuming it does come out this year.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
I’m a huge fan of anything FromSoftware churns out, especially the Dark Souls franchise. As much as I love Dark Souls, I’m excited to see what they can do with a new franchise. With ninjas and the dark themes FromSoftware is known for, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice seems like it should fit the bill nicely. I cannot wait to bang my head against this one next year.
