The Undertale Twitter account is up to something. What that is, we don’t rightly know. About 10 hours ago, the account, with blacked out name and avatar, began posting cryptic messages. All we do know at the moment is that something will be announced tomorrow.
It all began unassumingly enough. “WELCOME,” the account posted. It continued, asking “HAVE YOU BEEN LOOKING FOR ME?” Followed by “HOW WONDERFUL,” and then “I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU AS WELL.”
The account is promising something “very, very interesting,” but that it isn’t complete yet. Could this be the first we hear of a possible Undertale 2? The first game was critically acclaimed, and the revelation of a sequel would no doubt excite many.

Questions. Questions That Need Answering
During the series of teasing posts, the account clued us in to its desires. In 24 hours from the initial post, on Halloween, we will be asked “a few questions.” And, “using your responses we will approach its realization.” Spooky. Could this perhaps be the start of an alternate reality game (ARG) perpetrated by the game creator? Is it regarding a sequel, or is it something completely new? We don’t know yet, but the questioning has caught our attention.
And why wouldn’t it? We reviewed Undertale after it released back in 2015. Our own Tim McDonald gushed over the game, giving it an exceedingly rare 10/10.
“I want to call Undertale art, but that word carries some pretty negative connotations in the gaming world, usually bringing up thoughts of either overly pretentious titles or ‘walking simulators’ like the (nonetheless excellent) Gone Home,” he wrote. “This is neither, so let’s avoid that word, and just say what it is: Undertale is a brilliant, shining example of how games can make us feel things, can surprise us, can make us laugh, can make us sad, and can make us care, while still being fun to play.”
Naturally, we want to see where the questioning leads. If this is in fact a sequel, we’ll no doubt welcome it warmly. But if it’s something new by creator Toby Fox, we’ll…well, welcome it just as warmly, of course. Whatever gets revealed, count on us for the news.
