He’s been beheaded by Ser Ilyn Payne under King Joffrey’s orders. He’s been shot with guns and Uruk-hai arrows. He was blown into smithereens while riding a speedboat. He also got drawn and quartered, and a burning satellite dish fell on top of him. Most memorably, he’s fallen off a cliff while being chased by a herd of cows! He is Sean Bean, that famous actor who dies in (almost) every movie or show he’s been in. He also embraces the meme in the newest trailer for Hitman 2. The actor will play the villainous Mark Faba — The Undying — an Elusive Target in the game. Of course, that means he’ll have another brush with death, this time via Agent 47. Check out the trailer below:
The Ironically Undying Sean Bean
Elusive Targets were first introduced in Hitman (the 2016 game). These missions happened every now and then with a unique twist. You only got one shot, do not miss your chance to blow. That’s because this opportunity comes once in a lifetime (yo!).
So yes, they became a major incentive to keep coming back to Hitman time and again. Players did not want to miss that window of opportunity when a certain contract was available. As they only had one attempt (other than restarting), it was the pinnacle of considering yourself a true silent assassin. The rewards for these missions/contracts were mostly suits for Agent 47.
Back to Hitman 2, which releases on November 13. Elusive Targets will make a return starting with “The Undying” Sean Bean. At the moment, players can also vote for a weapon that would become unlockable in the game. Sean Bean even makes note of these in the trailer. Weapons include a toy robot which doubles as a flashbang, earphones that you can use to garrote an opponent, and a 007-inspired (or is it 006-inspired, hmm) exploding pen.
We don’t know what else to say other than we find it worth a few chuckles knowing that the man himself is just eager to get eviscerated in some other form of entertainment media. Of course, no article talking about Sean Bean would be complete without a Sean Bean death reel. This one’s courtesy of YouTube user Sundries:
