Attention all cat owners and current Minecraft players, there is a new contest you might want want to check out. Minecraft just announced the ‘Cat Contest’ on their website. Interested players can submit their feline friend from now until November 12. The prize includes winning the opportunity for Pixel Artist Jasper Boestra to literally bring your cat to life in Minecraft.
Contest Information
“All you have to do to enter is take a photo or video of the cat you think deserves to be in Minecraft, then share it on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #Minecraftcatcontest,” according to the post here.”You have until November 12 to submit your chosen cat. After that deadline, the community team will use a highly-respected cat media judging technique called ‘eyes’ to ‘look’ at all the entries, narrowing them down to three finalists.”
After that, it’s up to the Minecraft community to vote for which feline will become the top cat. The winner will be announced and chosen via Social Media on November 16. “They’ll join the game as part of the Village and Pillage update next year, becoming a part of Minecraft furever.” How awesome is that? To have your real pet immortalized in this very popular game forever is quite the prize.
What the Judges are looking for
- Is your cat unique looking enough to stand out in the game?
- Can your cat’s overall appearance reflect well once it’s converted into its Minecraft form?
- Will your cat’s appearance appeal to the overall Minecraft community?
This is probably the most unique contest from Minecraft I have seen to date. What a cool way to give back to their fanbase and dedicated players. It makes me wonder if they will hold more contests like this such as including Dogs, Birds, etc. Don’t forget that Minecraft Dungeons is coming PC next year as well.
Good luck to all Cat Contest entrants! I can’t wait to see whose cat comes up on top. For more detailed contest information, head on over here.
