Vlambeer (Super Crate Box, Serious Sam: The Random Encounter) and Devolver Digital have announced a curious aerial-based arcade dogfighting title called Luftrausers. That’s dogfighting in the sense of planes shooting at one another, not the thoroughly illegal gambling activity. If you arrived here googling for that, shame on you.

Killing people in planes is fine and dandy though, so all you people interested in that can stay. The game is promising “white-knuckle aerial battles against a crimson and cream sky” and enough weapon and systems upgrades to configure your plane in around 125 different ways. For a better idea of what that all might look like, eye up the video below.

Luftrausers is due at the end of 2012 for PC and Mac. Devolver Digital says the price is currently set at $5,000 USD, but I suspect they may be having a bit of a jolly jape.
