Check out the adorable trailer for Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure

Fun fact: Roughly a dozen writers here at PC Invasion own cats. Or rather, our cats own us. Yes, our feline friends are adorable and cute, but we do know they’re the boss. Ever so often, we imagine what it’d be like if their less-than-enthusiastic furry selves could talk to us. Or maybe not, I just checked, and apparently, I’m the only one on the team who thinks that way. Ahem! That brings us to Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure from indie developer Stuck in the Attic. The team, according to various sites, is simply comprised of three devs… and probably ten cats. Watch the trailer for the game below.

Cthul-who? Keeping it R’lyeh with a talking cat

Yes, Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure features a talking cat, appropriately named Kitteh. Ah, what do I know, one of my cats is named Khaleesi. Anyway, Kitteh used to be just a normal furry feline until the Necronomicon gave her a voice. You might think that it’s amazing to have a talking cat, well, that’s not how Detective R. Ketype (hah!) and sidekick Buzz Kerwan feel about things. Nope. They want to turn Kitteh back into a normal cat.

Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done. The game is about Lovecraftian horrors detailed in the Cthulhu Mythos as well as other dreaded horrors in Transylvania. So yes, the trio will indeed face challenges along the way.

What the trailer does show off spectacularly are the beautiful hand-drawn 2D animations. If you’ve ever played games such as Curse of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, or the more recent Day of the Tentacle, then no doubt you’ve missed point-and-click 2D adventures. Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure looks to carry the tradition with its animations, wacky characters, and tongue-in-cheek humor. Comedy is more than likely guaranteed, after all, the game’s Steam store page offers descriptions such as:

• Lovingly made near Vlad the Impaler’s birthplace.
• No cutesifying or making fun of the Old Ones, praise their Dark Names.
• Contains most genuine Transylvanian accent in games and media, like, ever.

Stuck in the Attic have also touted a special appearance by Doug Cockle who voiced Geralt in The Witcher series. The game will also have up to 70 voiced characters, and 12,000 dialogue lines. And, of course, there is indeed a talking cat!

Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure does not have a definite release date yet — only that it will be available “soon.” As usual, PC Invasion will be kitten you updated.
