The Razer name is all but synonymous with PC gaming. The company has produced a variety of PC-centric products, most of which are a callback to the Razer motto, “For Gamers. By Gamers.” However, the recent launch of a Kickstarter doesn’t seem like its sitting well with fans.
The Razer Naga Trinity Left-Handed Edition campaign recently launched on Kickstarter. At face value, this might seem like a great attempt to become more inclusive with a left-handed gaming peripheral. However, the hefty price tag for the campaign chimes in at $990,000. Yes, that’s the same Razer that is worth approximately $1.6 billion.
When we manufactured the left-handed Razer DeathAdder, we acknowledged that it was a project that would draw large costs at low demand. A left-handed mouse requires significant resources and time —it’s not as simple as just flipping the original mouse design over.
The Kickstarter campaign does boast a few bonuses for its backers. If you pledge $297 to the campaign, you’ll get three of the left-handed mice for “yourself and your guild.” The expected shipping timeframe for these is sometime in June of 2019. If anything, this is a chance for you to vote with your wallet in the hopes that Razer will see the community does indeed want a left-handed mouse for the masses.
