Japanese gaming magazines Famitsu and Dengeki Online have confirmed it: Persona 4’s Rise Kujikawa is moving to the frontlines and will be a playable character in Persona 4 Arena.
The information was originally leaked by Best Buy by accident, and so other details revealed from that leak might also be true. For the record, the leak also stated that Ken Amada will also be a playable character, and the release date has been set for September 16.
Storyline wise, this requires some shaking up of the original story, since Rise is a tactical support, meaning she doesn’t actually go fight with the Protagonist, unlike Chie or Yukiko. The last installment of Persona 4 Arena showed her as a host/ announcer, but it turns out that this is actually a fake Rise, since the real one was kidnapped so she couldn’t talk to her friends.
Rise has had three Persona before, Himiko, Kanzeon, and Kouzeon, but it looks like she’s getting a new one for this game. Here’s a screencap showing what Rise’s Persona might look like.
I’m looking forward to learning more about Rise in P4A, how about you? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
