Gamers everywhere are sharpening their swords, donning their armor, and preparing to rage as Dark Souls 2 is upon us. As someone who, after much trial and error, beat Dark Souls I can’t wait to reenter that dreaded world and get my ass handed to me by some horrific beastie. The Dark Souls franchise certainly isn’t for everyone though, the games are known for their fair but unforgiving nature which puts many gamers off. It also doesn’t help that the story is very minimalist and the games feature very little in the way of tutorials.
For those willing to endure however, Dark Souls and its spiritual predecessor Demon’s Souls rewarded them tenfold with a fantastic, atmospheric game that treated you like an adult and offered a challenge that is rarely found in games these days. When Dark Souls 2 was announced, many hardcore fans were concerned that the series might be dumbed down to appeal to a wider audience. Thankfully this doesn’t seem the case and early players have reported that Dark Souls 2 is as hard as ever.
It might surprise you to learn that some gamers argue that although Dark Souls is certainly challenging, it’s not quite as difficult as many claim. Although I myself can testify that I have died hundreds if not thousands of times whilst playing the series, I will admit that once you become familiar with the game, learn its secrets and collect helpful items, it certainly becomes a bit less foreboding. In this article published by Videogamer.com, author Andi Hamilton explain what it is that makes Dark Souls 2 hard, how you can overcome it and how eventually you will become a force to be reckoned with. As a Dark Souls fan I highly enjoyed it and recommend you give it a read before you begin Dark Souls 2. You can check it out right HERE.
