On the 14th of February something brilliant happened, no not Valentine’s Day you fool! Naughty Dog released The Last of Us: Left Behind single player DLC that acted as a prologue to the events of the main game and put players in the shoes of Ellie as we find out more about who she is and the tragic events that occurred prior to her meeting Joel in The Last of Us.

I join thousands of critics when I say that Left Behind was every bit as fantastic and emotional as its main game counterpart.  Getting to know Ellie a little more was such a great move by Naughty Dog and knowing the tragedy she’s suffered not only makes her seem more equal to Joel in that respect but also sheds more light on her actions in The Last of Us. An article on IGN, written by Keza MacDonald, beautifully explores the various themes of friendship, love, fear and survival as well as pin pointing what makes this piece of DLC a landmark moment in gaming.

As a huge fan of The Last of Us and as someone who greatly enjoyed Left Behind I urge all fans of the game, and of gaming in general to check this article out. Serious props to Keza for writing such a great article. You can read it right HERE.
