Runescape Classic which launched way back in 2001 is finally being closed down for a number of reasons.
Although Runescape has moved on from the original version with Oldschool Runescape and the newest version, Jagex now feels that it’s impossible to support players that are still playing the very old Classic version. The reasons for closing down now including the fact that their tools are no longer compatible with Classic which poses problems for the community when it comes to players abusing the game with third-party macro tools and bots.
With their tools now ineffective, Jagex can’t provide a reliable service, address game breaking bugs and keep the game a safe place to play. To preempt the game eventually breaking completely, they feel now would be a good time to pull the plug and avoid any real problems further down the line.
The RuneScape Classic servers will be taken offline at 8:00AM BST on the 6th of August 2018. Enjoy it while you can.
