Josh Sawyer has played a huge part in some of the best RPGs ever made including Fallout: New Vegas, Alpha Protocol, Icewind Dale and many more. The list goes on.
It appears Josh is needing a break and wants to take some time off according to a blog post. It sounds like he’s not done with creating games, he just doesn’t want to be a director, which is good news for gamers everywhere. We’ll have to wait and see what he ends up getting involved with once he’s done fixing up Pillars of Eternity 2. His update reads:
I’ve said it in a few streams, I think. I’m now in my 19th year in the industry and I’ve been working on Pillars I & II for about 6 years. I’m going to be on Deadfire (not the DLCs) until we’re done patching and improving it, but after that I’m taking a break from directing for a while.
I’ve worked on a lot of party-based fantasy RTwP games. I’d like to shift focus for my next project, but I need to work on something else, not as a director, before that.
