Anyone looking for their daily Fortnite fix will be disappointed to see that the servers are currently offline and have been for around twelve hours now.
The servers went offline in the early hours of the morning for emergency downtime to deploy major upgrades to the database systems. This appears to be tied to their login and account systems. That work is still ongoing and the servers are still offline with no ETA on when they will return.
The latest update reads: “We’re still working on the database upgrade process, and remain in downtime”. That was seven hours ago.
Over the past week, there has been an increase in unauthorised attempts to access users accounts with automated emails alerting Epic games users that login attempts have been made. It’s not clear if this related to the current downtime and database changes but it has been concerning some players.
If you are waiting to get on, keep checking the status page for further updates.
Update 2: Servers are now back online.

Update: They are getting there…
Services should begin to recover over the next couple of hours. Due to issues with our account system, players on PS4 will be unable to login for an additional period of time. We’re sorry for the extended downtime. We’ll update you in an hour.
