Splash Damage’s free to play shooter Dirty Bomb will shortly be moving away from a 32-Bit client to a 64-Bit client.

In the latest developer update, they reveal that a new client will roll-out soon and it’s being changed because they are reaching the memory limit which can cause crashes and also limits them with the size of content they can add. Multi-core PCs will also benefit from the update and should see improved performance. The new client also has an increased cache size which they say will improve general performance.

Anyone on a 32-Bit version of Windows will no longer be able to play the game unless it’s updated to a 64-Bit version and apparently you can still update to 10 for free if you have a Windows 7 or 8.1 product key. PC gamers really should be on 64-Bit by now anyway so just be aware that you have a couple of weeks to upgrade before the new client drops.

It will be interesting to see how this change affects the game and it’s great that Dirty Bomb is getting a plenty of attention as it’s really been improving over the past year. It’s worth a look if you’ve not played it yet.
