Developer Ignited Artists has revealed their co-op roguelike dungeon crawler Barbaric in which champions will have to band together and take on a demonic scourge in the land of Aldderas.

The game will feature eight distinct characters and players will have to team up and navigate procedurally generated dungeons. Players will be able to level up their powers and the combat has apparently been inspired by competitive fighting games. Unlike most co=op games, there will be friendly fire so players will have to make sure they hit the right targets.

“Combat is the heart of every dungeon-crawler, but where can you find the best combat? Fighting games.” says Scott Foe, Game Director of Barbaric. “We tossed out everything from the classics and borrowed from fighting games to deliver the smoothest, most-thoughtful experience in the genre.”

Oddly enough, as a “mission” comes to its conclusion, the developers appear to be encouraging players to take each other out with the victor claiming the “boss token” which can be exchanged for loot.

Barbaric is due for release Q4 2017 and below are some pre-alpha shots.
