Microsoft pledges that Killer Instinct is still getting the pending update that includes Fulgore, and the long awaited Story Mode, this month.
Here’s a post from Microsoft Game Studios Adam Isgreen over at NeoGAF:
We are still aiming for March for the big Fulgore/Story/Lobby release. Yes, that’s risky, because the update is chock full of content and we’re 13 days from April. I can only say we’re trying to land it. If we’re delayed out of March, it’s only because we’re being extra-careful to find and address any issues with this major content update.
The Fulgore trailer is coming together nicely, too. Needs a few tweaks, but it’s close, and damn he’s fun to play.
As PlayerEssence points out, the game is still lacking in terms of content, and so any delay would have hurt the early birds who bought it.
There were of course worries that development would be delayed after the game’s original developer, Double Helix, was acquired by Amazon, but Microsoft has insisted development is going along fine. Considering Microsoft sold this game on the promise that it would eventually be as complete as a retail game, they have to follow through on that promise.
