Today, Crytek announced its engine-as-a-service program, which will make CryEngine accessible to anyone willing to pay a monthly subscription for the engine. When you pay $10 a month, subscribers can access all of CryEngine’s development tools, including the geometry cache and image based lighting features shown off at GDC this week and its royalty free.
“When we announced the new CryEngine this was our first step towards creating an engine as a service. We are happy to announce now that the latest update of CryEngine will soon be available to all developers on a subscription basis,” said Crytek’s Director of Business Development, Carl Jones. “We are really excited to make CryEngine available to hundreds of thousands of developers working with Crytek to make awesome games.” You can learn more about the program here on Crytech website.
