MLB has finally unwrapped RBI Baseball 14. The game is coming to Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, and Xbox One, as well as mobile devices, purely via digital download.
Yep, you read that right. The new RBI’s not coming to Nintendo platforms, or PC for that matter.
This is the 1st game MLB is bankrolling themselves, with their own game studio, and in that sense it is a first for sports and gaming as well. MLB has opted to bring back the classic RBI gameplay style, this time using full 3D graphics.
I honestly feel that the choice to pass over the perpetually nostalgic Nintendo fanbase is a mistake, and the comments on their Facebook pages may corroborate this. Commenters are complaining the game looks ‘ugly’, does not fit their expectations, etc. I imagine there’d be interest in this game to be on Steam, Mac, GOGcom, etc.
It may simply be the case that MLB’s devs are still testing out the waters for their initial release, but if you’d like to see RBI Baseball 14 come to more platforms than this, let them know at their Facebook page or Twitter.
