EA split from E3, will host own EA Play event in June

Electronic Arts will still be showing up to Los Angeles with the rest of the videogame industry in June, but they’ll be doing so under the guise of their own ‘EA Play’ event. Rather than hosting their regular press event as part of E3 (14-16 June), EA will be showing their stuff at LA’s Club Nokia from 12 June to 14 June.

That’s bad news for travelling journalists who’ll now have to show up in LA even earlier, and cover separate events in different parts of town, but potentially good news for members of the public interested in EA’s games. Attendance on all days is open to the public, who (if they’re nowhere near LA, but are in the UK) can also show up to The Mermaid in London on 12 June. This venue will be hosting a concurrent EA event on that day.

EA’s promising “hands-on game demos, live events, competition, special guest appearances, exclusive memorabilia and more” across the three day period.

They’ll still be doing an E3-style press conference (with game reveals and long chats with Pele and stuff), which will be on June 12 at 1 pm PT/9 pm BST. Naturally, this will be viewable online.

The page linked above has a form to fill in for those who want to receive more information about securing tickets. Quite what these will cost isn’t covered in the “gosh we love our players” blurb, but it’s probably a fair assumption that EA will not benevolently allow free entry.
