This morning Oculus opened pre-orders for the Oculus Rift priced at $599.00 USD. Ocukus will be shipping pre-ordered units out on 28 March to the following 20 countries:
- Australia
- Belgium
- Canada
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Japan
- Iceland
- Ireland
- Italy
- Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Norway
- Poland
- Spain
- Sweden
- Taiwan
- United Kingdom
- United States.
The Rift will also be available in limited numbers at select retailers.
Included in the box is the headset with built-in headphones and mic, sensor, and an Xbox One controller.
Also included with the Rift is the the Oculus Remote which is their version of a simple ibput device to “navigate VR experiences”.
The package also comes with the platformer Lucky’s Tale and EVE: Valkyrie which is probably one of the most anticipated VR titles. Oculus are also keen to point out that there are many more VR titles in the works  such as Rockband VR and The Climb.
Before gamers take the plunge and purchase an Oculus Rift make sure you have the following requirements as recommended by Oculus.
- Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD R9 290 equivalent or greater
- Processor: Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
- Memory: 8GB+ RAM
- Output: Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
- Input: 3x USB 3.0 ports plus 1x USB 2.0 port
- Operating system: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer
Ocuus is also attempting to make it easy to jump into the world of VR with Oculus Ready PCs which come with an “Oculus Stamp”. These will be available from February starting at a hefty $1499 .
It’s worth noting that the Oculus Touch controllers will not be released until later this year and will be another costs on top of the Rift and any other PC hardware needed to meet the recommended specs.
