CD Projekt CEO: 2016 to be “devoted” to The Witcher 3

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

In a business-oriented chat with Polish site Money.pl, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski had some interesting things to say about ongoing support for The Witcher 3. Of course he said those interesting things in Polish, so I’m having to rely on the translation skills of NeoGaf for the substance of what was said.

It appears that CD Projekt will be pretty committed to sustaining and promoting The Witcher 3 throughout 2016. As the translation has it, “next year will be devoted to The Witcher“. Early 2016 will see the release of the second major portion of DLC, Blood & Wine, but Kicinski says the company have “some additional ideas” to keep the game in the public eye.

Whether this is a guarded reference to further possible DLC it’s hard to say. Clearly, though, the developer has plans for the title that’ll last through 2016.

Where does this leave CD Projekt Red’s other major RPG project, Cyberpunk 2077? Largely where it has always been, it seems; with a long-term release window of 2017. Kicinski states that “we’ve been working on Cyberpunk 2077 for a long time” and confirms that there is an (as yet unannounced) release date in mind. But for now, he says, “[CD Projekt are] concentrating on The Witcher“.
