The PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight has returned to sale on Steam, but the much hoped-for performance improvements do not seem to have materialised. I’m relying on second-hand reports here, as I don’t own the game myself, but initial responses are not at all promising.
Issues like poor texture streaming (resulting in delayed texture pop-in), frame-rate drops, major stutters are being cited all across the Batman: Arkham Knight Steam community forums. Specific problems like rain effects not displaying correctly after reloading a saved game are still present, and it sounds like SLI support is still somewhere between poor and non-existent.
A pair of updates went out today, one of around 2GB in size and another at closer to 10GB (or, if you arrived later, it may have been one 12GB-ish patch), but by the sounds of things this has mostly just added the Season Pass DLC. Which, of course, you will need to own in order to actually access.
Batman: Arkham Knight continued to receive patches after its disastrous June release on PC, and it seems that even though the game is back on sale, performance has not really changed since the last one in September.
People who purchased the game on PC may, at least, be able to enjoy some working Batman games (if they don’t already own them). By way of compensation for this debacle, Warner Bros say they have put copies of Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY, Batman: Arkham City GOTY, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate in the Steam libraries of everyone who bought Arkham Knight.
That offer apparently extends to “everyone who has already purchased or will purchase Batman: Arkham Knight for PC prior to 11:59 pm PDT, November 16, 2015″.
