Dota 2 Reborn launches

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Dota 2 Reborn is now Dota 2, everybody.

The Reborn client is now officially out. There’s no actual announcement of this, but as of right now, it’s impossible to access the “old” Dota 2 client, and the latest “patch” appears to basically remove the old version of Dota 2 from your hard drive after updating to Reborn. So, hey, bonus hard drive space. Always appreciated.

I really don’t have much more to add, except for the obligatory link to the Compendium items that launched this morning, and a note that this means there’s currently no way to watch Source 1 replays in the client itself. This is a bit of a problem if you’ve been watching every game from TI5 in order, so let’s hope for some sort of standalone Source 1 replay viewer before long.

Tim has been playing PC games for longer than he's willing to admit. He's written for a number of publications, but has been with PC Invasion - in all its various incarnations - for over a decade. When not writing about games, Tim can occasionally be found speedrunning terrible ones, making people angry in Dota 2, or playing something obscure and random. He's also weirdly proud of his status as (probably) the Isle of Man's only professional games journalist.
