Just as Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes wound up with quite a few mods on PC, so too might Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. A poster at the XeNTaX forum, the place where Ground Zeroes’ editing tools emerged from, has said that the Phantom Pain files have been decrypted.
“Tool coming up in a day or few”, the poster ‘Sergeanur’ adds. That was written on 1 September.
This would be great news for potential Metal Gear Solid V mods. The Ground Zeroes tool allowed the creation of helpful additional options like an FOV slider, greater control over graphics settings like Depth of Field and Motion Blur, as well as tweaks like custom starting weapons and damage parameters.
While the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V is very good (read our impressions here), it does have some blind spots (mostly around the mouse and keyboard controls) that could conceivably be fixed with mods.
We may still be a way off from that, but figuring out the file decryption is an important first step.
