Rumours circulate about Elder Scrolls MMO

This article is over 12 years old and may contain outdated information

The usual rumour caveats apply here, but Tom’s Guide is reporting on tip-offs supposedly received from unnamed industry sources about an Elder Scrolls MMO to be revealed this summer. Their “industry source” in his or her long dark raincoat has stated that The Elder Scrolls Online is in development and will be set long before the events in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, in a period dubbed “the Second Era”.
Adding some sort of veracity to this talk are multiple job postings that Bethesda has put up (such as this one, for a graphics programmer), listing “avid MMO gamer” as a major plus.
Further details given out by this shady source in poorly lit carpark include the suggestion that The Elder Scrolls Online will feature three factions; each represented by an animal sigil. Said animals are a bird of prey, a lion and a dragon.
The site goes on to speculate about a May 2012 reveal, to ramp up hype for E3. However, it’s not clear if this came from the source, or whether it’s just guess work.
ZeniMax and Bethesda have both offered a “no comment” in response to these reports.
