In not especially surprising news, Respawn’s Vince Zampella has re-confirmed that a sequel to Titanfall is in development and that it’ll be on PC again. EA has previously said that they would be publishing a follow-up to the multiplayer shooter, so I suppose it’s good to hear the actual developers say it too.
Zampella spread the news in a chin-wag with IGN. “We’re working on a [Titanfall] sequel. No official name yet, but we’re working on that,” says the former Infinity Ward man.
There’s not a whole lot else to this semi-announcement, other than to note Zampella’s views on how Titanfall approached DLC. “I think having the maps like that in packs, it does split the community and it makes it harder for matchmaking, it’s messy. Yeah. I don’t know we won’t do it again, I can’t say that for sure, but the idea would be to do something different,” he says.
That change of heart may be behind yesterday’s ‘anniversary’ decision to make Titanfall’s season pass free for everyone.
In addition to the sequel news, Zampella hinted at some other projects to come from Respawn. “[The sequel is] the main focus but we’re starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow!”
