Assassin’s Creed: Unity PC patch 5 coming 19 February

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s been a fair old while since Ubisoft put out a patch for Assassin’s Creed: Unity, but Patch 5 will be available for the PC version tomorrow (19 February). That’s according to this forum post, which outlines some of the changes players can expect.

Update 19 Feb: The latest on this from Ubisoft is that the PC patch has (surprise,) met a “a small unavoidable delay” but is still “expected to be release[d] soon.” It may still be a 19 February release in some time zones, but not all of them. Rest of the original story follows:

The list is extremely light on performance-related stuff, but that appears to be because the PC-specific patch notes have not yet been released. Over at the special blog Ubisoft put up to advertise patches for one of last year’s most infamously broken games, the latest post says “PC-specific fixes that address performance, connectivity and general stability issues will be available when the PC update releases.”

Based on that, the changelog in the Assassin’s Creed: Unity forum is presumably just console focused. I’d expect the PC changes to be listed tomorrow. Let’s hope so anyway, because if that really is the extent of the patch notes, a lot of PC players are going to be rather unimpressed.

Something else worthy of note is that Ubisoft say they have now just unlocked all of the Initiates and Companion App based stuff for everybody who plays Assassin’s Creed: Unity: “Additionally, we will be unlocking all content exclusive to Initiates and the Companion App, including both blue and gold chests.”

That should mean no more pesky locked chests laying around Paris that Arno can’t open unless he uses his magical out-of-game phone application. Good riddance to that crap.
