Games Up campaign, a new initiative to help UK based game firms, has called for help and support to lobby government.
The launch of the official site, www.gamesup.co.uk, has had media attention and organisers are hoping to follow the momentum by drumming up support from within in the industry.
The campaign is already supported and sponsored by over 15 UK studios and trade bodies Tiga and ELSPA.
The campaign hopes to raise awareness of the “negative factors including high costs, substantial governement assistance overseas and a skills shortage.”
Basically, the UK is a bad place to be for games development when it could be so much better.
The next phase has now focused on MP’s meeting and visiting games studios and round tables discussions with policy makers in government.
It’s hoped that the skills shortage and the tax benefits for games developers and publishers will be addressed, stopping the industry from slowly moving abroad.
