2k Games Support Hacked Reset Passwords Urgent Notice Twitter

2K has been hacked, warns users not to click on support emails and to change passwords

You could be at risk.

2K Games has been hacked by an unauthorized third party. The official 2K Support Twitter account posted a tweet alerting users about the situation, stating that one of the vendors to the help desk platform has been compromised.

2K Support is now instructing users to take action to protect their accounts. The most important instruction given is to not open any emails or click links attached in any emails sent from 2K Games support. The authorized party is using the 2K support email to send out malicious phishing links that will steal your account and personal information.

Those that have already opened or interacted with an email that fits this description need to take immediate action. If this applies to you, then you should reset all account passwords stored in your web browser, enable multi-factor authentication for important services, and scan your computer with an effective anti-virus.

This may seem a lot, but the aftermath of this 2K hack could be devastating. In instances like these, hackers are rarely interested in the account itself . Instead, they are most likely using 2K Support’s reach to get consumers to compromise their PCs. A compromised PC can be used to steal important information like bank details, email accounts, and phone numbers.

Not taking the appropriate action won’t just lead to you losing your 2K account. In a worst-case scenario, you could see your entire savings emptied out of your bank account. Because of this, it is extremely important that you act immediately if you are at risk.

The season of cyber attacks

From compromised security to industry defining leaks, it seems to be the season of cyber attacks. Leading up to 2K being hacked we saw both Diablo 4 and pre-alpha GTA 6 gameplay leaked. It seems to be a coincidence that this all happening at once, but regardless, it’s scary times. Hopefully, things calm down and another similar development isn’t waiting for us in the near future.
