It’s been almost one year to the day since Taleworlds announced they were working on Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord and released a rather underwhelming ‘teaser’ trailer to accompany that news. 364 days on (or thereabouts,) some new screenshots have been shared on the game’s ‘media’ page. The site was being hammered earlier today when I saw word of this on NeoGaf, but seems to be back online now.

The twelve images are a decent mixture, showing characters, horses (of courses) and environmental details from the new game. A few city interior shots seem to suggest there will be some loosely Ottoman style goings-on alongside the European-medieval look of some of the other characters and locations. These graphics probably aren’t going to murder a decent graphics card, but that was always the case with the original game too; its genius was applying an Elite-type open world structure to a medieval RPG. That, and amazing horseback combat.

We’ll have to wait and see what new delights Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord is offering in the features department though, as the page for that still says “content coming soon” on it. Intriguing! If not terribly helpful. No doubt more will be revealed in time. It’s probably not going to be a year before the next announcement. For now, enjoy the images.
