Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

One of the more surprising world premieres during the Xbox Showcase this year was Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Launching in 2025, this Souls-like action RPG by Chinese indie studio Leenzee Games was unexpected but thrilling.

Reminding me of the upcoming Black Myth Wukong, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers will have you play as Bai Wuchang who is a pirate warrior cursed with Ornithropy magic. Engage in challenging combat scenarios with multiple weapon types as Wuchang: Fallen Feathers launches day one on Game Pass, alongside Steam, PlayStation 5, and Epic Games.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Even more shocking of a reveal had to be Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Sandfall Interactive’s debut title arriving in 2025 exclusively to the Xbox Series X|S. In this turn-based action RPG, you must lead an expedition to destroy the Paintress before she decides to erase all the remaining survivors of humanity.

The Paintress is a strange entity who repaints the world each year according to one number. Anyone of the same age of that number will disappear, leading more and more survivors to die yearly. This is incredibly unique for a narrative, and the turn-based combat makes this title even more enticing.

Life Is Strange Double Exposure

Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Nobody expected a new Life is Strange game to show up, especially one with the returning and beloved character Max Caulfield. Arriving on October 29, 2024, on PC and Xbox Series X|S, Life is Strange: Double Exposure sees Max in a new light, but in a new timeline.

Instead of her usual time-bending powers, she can be in two parallel timelines at the same time. After discovering her new friend, Safi, dead in the snow, Max must use her powers to save Safi in the parallel timeline. Life is Strange fans will inevitably be eager to pick this game up in a few months.

Doom: The Dark Ages

Although this game was already leaked beforehand, seeing the actual trailer for it throws my anticipation through the roof. Doom: The Dark Ages launches in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and PC and will have you returning as Doom Slayer, but this time in a more medieval setting.

id Software brings us a new first-person action game where Doom Slayer must face the war against Hell and its waves of demons. The trailer showcased some wild weapons, such as a shield that acts like a blade saw, and a gun that uses skulls as ammo.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred

The upcoming Diablo 4 expansion has me and all other Diablo 4 fans at the edges of our seats, and even more so with the new cinematic trailer. Although we didn’t get to see any gameplay, the cinematic trailer showed us just how much hardship Neyrelle will have to go through.

On October 8, 2024, Diablo 4 players will get the chance to explore the new region of Nahantu to find Neyrelle who is suffering from the Prime Evil Mephisto. We’ll also be able to play as the new Spiritborn class, as well as recruit mercenaries to aid us in combat. The trailer was grim and gruesome, everything Diablo 4 fans want for a trailer.

Atomfall

Atomfall was a surprising world premiere from the studio Rebellion, coming 2025 to Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass. After a nuclear disaster that leaves Britain in shambles, you can explore, craft, and fight your way through this survival-action game.

This single-player game in post-war Britain is a mix of folk horror, classic British sci-fi, and Cold War paranoia. You wouldn’t think these genres could blend well, but after watching that incredible trailer you’re probably just as enticed as I am to see more footage.

Dragon Age Veilguard

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Dragon Age fans can finally have a taste of a brand new Dragon Age title with the reveal trailer of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. With plans for gameplay to be revealed within the coming days, this cinematic trailer was enough to get me and Dragon Age fans pumped to know more.

Arriving in Fall 2024, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a fantasy RPG that has you playing as the leader of the Veilguard, a group of heroes who must defy the corrupt gods to save the world. This trailer introduced us to the seven companions you’ll get to recruit who have rich backstories and possible romance storylines.

Gears of War: E-Day

Xbox’s one-last-thing this year was Gears of War: E-Day, which is the next game in the beloved Gears of War franchise. This time, you’ll be playing a prequel game through the eyes of Marcus Fenix as he and Dom Santiago face the Locust Horse.

Built in Unreal Engine 5, Gears of War: E-Day will have you fight these grotesque subterranean monsters who are wreaking havoc on humanity. Set 14 years before Gears of War, this is definitely something any Gears of War fan should check out whenever it releases.

Perfect Dark

For the first time, we got a look at the Perfect Dark reboot by The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics. This has been in the works for a long time, and we finally got a deep look at the updated gameplay.

You’ll play as Joanna Dark in this first-person shooter as she hunts down the world’s most dangerous criminal to uncover wild secrets that could threaten millions of lives. There was no release date, but it’s good to see proper gameplay for once.

South Of Midnight

South of Midnight

After its reveal just a year ago, we received an exciting gameplay preview for South of Midnight, a third-person action-adventure game from the minds of Compulsion Games. You’ll be playing as Hazel in this Southern Gothic world of Prospero.

After a hurricane hits Prospero, Hazel must enter this strange world mixed with creatures of fantasy and folklore. South of Midnight has a choppy framerate that makes it resemble a claymation art style, and it plans to release in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Game Pass, and Windows.

If you enjoyed all the game reveals at the Xbox Games Showcase, you also probably loved all the world premieres at Summer Game Fest 2024.
