Returnal PC leak reveals graphics settings and DLSS support

Returnal's PC debut looks more likely now than ever.
Returnal Pc Leak Dlss Ray Tracing Graphics Settings

A new video has surfaced seemingly leaking the PC settings for Returnal, a roguelike third-person shooter that launched on PlayStation 5 last year. It’s a PlayStation 5 exclusive, but rumors of a PC port have surfaced multiple times. This latest leak seems to be the most convincing evidence that a PC could be on the way.

The video in question is an unlisted upload on YouTube that goes through some of Returnal‘s graphics settings. There are the usual settings, such as V-Sync, shadow quality, and lighting quality, but what’s more interesting is that this alleged PC version of Returnal reveals some less standard options. These include full Nvidia DLSS and AMD Fidelity FX support under ‘Screen Optimizations’ as well as ray tracing.

For those not in the know, DLSS is an advanced type of anti-aliasing that enhances performance. Nvidia has its Deep Learning super sampling, while AMD uses FidelityFX Super Resolution. The idea behind super sampling is that you get the benefits of anti-aliasing without the decrease in frame rate.

DLSS is becoming an increasingly common feature in large-budget games, but Returnal having it is a little surprising. Given that Returnal started out life as a PlayStation exclusive, something like DLSS wasn’t a given, but this PC leak suggests that it is supported.

Returnal having ray tracing support is less surprising, as the PS5 is perfectly capable of outputting ray traced shadows and reflections. In fact, ray tracing is one of the big selling points for the newest generation of consoles as well as newer graphics cards. It’s literally what the RTX stands for in Nvidia’s 2000, 3000, and soon-to-be 4000 series GPUs.

PlayStation games on PC

It’s important to remember that Returnal isn’t confirmed to be coming to PC this year, and these settings aren’t official. But Sony has opened up to releasing its exclusives on PC. It was once unheard of for PlayStation staples like God of War and Uncharted to appear on PC, but that is no longer the case. There’s also Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which release this year.
