Diablo 3 players have been waiting on news from Blizzard about another expansion but that hasn’t been forthcoming.

A few new job postings on Blizzard’s site hint at a possible new game and not just an expansion. In recent months Blizzard has been adding new Diablo 3 content for free as they continue to improve the game. Perhaps they’re going to forget about another expansion and instead create a new Diablo game.

The job posting for a lighting artist, senior character artist and senior concept artist include some interesting wording:

“Blizzard Entertainment is seeking exceptionally skilled and passionate senior concept artists to help drive the vision of characters and worlds in our next hit game!”

“We’re looking for artists that are self-starting, versatile, and enjoy being part of a collaborative environment.  The ideal candidate shares our sensibilities, loves dark medieval worlds, and feels there are countless stories left to tell in the Diablo universe! “

Are Blizzard thinking about putting Diablo 3 behind them and move on? Diablo 3 didn’t live up to fans’ expectations and Blizzard made some terrible mistakes with some of the features and game mechanics. Perhaps they want to now move on and give the franchise the game it really deserves.
