The updated version of Mortal Kombat X, Mortal Kombat XL will be released for PC on 4 October. Those who already own the original game will receive the updated aspects (balancing, netcode) in a free patch.
That’s all according to a blurb on the Kombat Pack 2 DLC page on Steam. “Current owners of Mortal Kombat X on PC will be able to download the latest patch for free, giving players access to all of the latest balance updates as well as the enhanced online experience, that was available in the recent beta test for the game,” the summary states.
The KP2 DLC itself will not be free to existing MKX owners, and will have a price that is yet to be listed on Steam. There will also be a stand-alone Mortal Kombat XL version sold, which will include all prior DLC and Kombat Pack 2.
QLOC are confirmed to be handling the PC version. They were originally brought in to salvage High Voltage’s work on MKX in 2015, and have a series of quality PC ports on their CV including the recent God Eater 2.
